A CELEBRATION

The September meeting began with a celebration of the ikebana achievements and contribution to the Melbourne Chapter by Mrs Doreen Schofield.

Doreen joined Ikebana International Melbourne only a couple of years after it was founded in 1959. She served on the committee for 39 of those intervening years, in almost every committee role. She was not only an efficient person with excellent business skills, but lived by a motto, ”Friendship through Flowers”. She has touched many lives of I.I. members with her friendly and generous nature and continues to be a warm, positive influence in the Melbourne Chapter. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Doreen for enriching the lives of Melbourne Chapter members with her generosity, knowledge and enthusiasm for over 55 years.

The Certificate of Appreciation was presented by Chieko Yazaki, President of the Chapter, who spoke about Doreen's extensive contributions.

What is the secret of the youthful looking ladies? Ikebana Flower Power? Doreen (centre) recently celebrated her 90th  birthday. Rosemary Farrelly (left) and Helen Novic (right) celebrate theirs next year.
